Gothic Rouge



 

 

 

 

This tutorial was written using PSP7 and Animation shop.

The tutorial is my design and any similarity to any other tutorial is purely coincidental.

This tutorial is meant as a guide only.

 

Supplies Needed

Tube of your choice. I used the amazing art of Dark Yarrow. To use her tubes you must have a license which you can purchase from MY PSP TUBES

Goth Rouge parts I and II and frame pack By Yarrow. You get the frame pack free when purchasing the 2 parts of the kit.

You can purchase these at Digital Chaos

 

Plug-In Filters

Alien Skin Xenofex 2-Electrify

Alien Skin Eye Candy 4000-HSB Noise (If you don't have this you can use DBS Flux bright noise)

Open supplies in PSP

Open a new canvas 700x600
Flood fill white
Rename layer background

Paste in a frame from the freebie frame pack that came with the kit. I used frame 19
Resize by 70%
Place to the left hand side of the canvas
Rename layer frame


Using the lasso tool draw around the circle like shown below

Paste a paper of your choice as new layer
Selections>Invert
Hit delete on you keyboard

Selections>Invert

Move layer beneath the frame layer and rename fill

Paste tube as new layer
Resize by 150
Place so the part you want showing is inside the marching ants
Selections>invert
Press delete on you keyboard

Select none

Move the tube below the frame layer by above the fill layer
Layers>Properties>Blend mode-Luminance
Rename layer close up

Paste frame 4 from the 1st part of the kit as new layer
Resize by 80%
Rename layer frame 2
Place this below frame and close up tube but above fill layer
Using the magic wand click inside both parts of the new frame while holding down the shift key

Selections>Modify>expand by 5
Paste a paper of your choice as new layer
Selections invert
Press delete on you keyboard
Move layer beneath frame 2 and rename fill2
DO NOT DE-SELECT
Paste your tube again, or a different one but by the same artist as new layer
Place it so the parts you want showing are inside the marching ants on the frame
Press delete on keyboard
Select none
Rename layer tube1

Paste the candle as new layer
Make this the top layer
Layers>Duplicate
Move the duplicate layer to under the first fill layer just above background
Use the eraser tool to eraser the bottom stand of the candle stick so the frame 2 is showing above it. As shown below

Rename the top of the 2 candle layers candle we will be using this again later



Make the background layer the active layer
Paste the stamp as new layer
Place is so you can see the splashes from the stamp behind the frame on the left
Layers duplicate
Image>mirror
Image>flip
And move so you’re happy with placement
Hide all other layers, merge visible on the stamps and rename stamps

Make the top layer the active layer
Paste on the charms and chain
Resize by 80% twice
Place at the bottom of the tag. See mine for reference
Add a slight drop shadow
Make the stamps layer the active layer
Effects>Plug In Filters
Alien skin xenofex2
Electrify
With the following settings



Make the candle the active layer
With the lasso tool, draw around the flame of the candle you don’t need to be too neat
Layers>duplicate twice
You should now have 3 candle layers
Close off visibility on the top 2 candle layers
And on the original candle layer
Effects>plug in filters
Alien skin eye candy 4000 HSB Noise
With the following settings


Repeat this on the other 2 candle layers by pressing the random seed button each time

Crop and resize tag as desired
Add your name and copyright information

Now to move to animation

Close off visibility on the top 2 candle layers and make the last one the active layer

Copy merged

Paste into animation shop as new animation

Back in PSP close off visibility on the layer you just copied and unhide the next one up

Copy merged

Paste into animation after current frame

Repeat with the remaining candle layer


In animation shop
View animation make sure all is playing ok (you will see the candle flame flickering)

If happy save tag as a gif file and enjoy
